Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles Recipe

Whole Wheat SnickerdoodlesHave you tried eating a Snickerdoodle? It is a cookie made out of flour, egg, sugar and oil or butter and then the dough rolled in cinnamon sugar. It is characterized by its cracked surface after baking. They are sometimes called as sugar cookies; the only difference is that this type of cookie is rolled in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Here is a recipe for Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles for you to try out.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Equipment:
Mixer
Baking sheets
Drinking glass

Instructions:

  1. Using a mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until it is fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla.
  2. While mixing continuously, add in the dry ingredients little by little.
  3. When the ingredients are mixed thoroughly into cookie dough, place in a flat surface.
  4. Shape the dough into one inch balls. Roll the cookie balls into a sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  5. Place the balls in the baking sheet two inches apart from each other.
  6. Using a drinking glass, flatten the cookie balls slightly.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the oven that has been pre-heated to 375 degrees F or 190 degrees C. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the cookies from the oven and let cool.
  8. Recipe makes 2 to 3 dozen cookies.
