Add in the some flavor.

In order to give your frosting some character, try adding in some flavor extract of your choice that you think will go well with your cookies. You can’t go wrong with using vanilla. If you want some unique touch, you can try adding a drop of orange or lemon extract into your frosting. The choice is yours since you are the artist.

Don’t forget some color.

Aside from flavoring, you can also add some color to your frosting before you apply them to your cookies. This will help bring out your decoration and give life to your cookie creations. All it takes is a drop or two of food coloring.

Spread it.

Using a pump or a spatula, spread the frosting into your cookies. Make sure that you stir it now and then before applying to prevent from crusting on top.

Add other toppings.
